One of the best parts of L.I.F.T. R&R is opening doors for those looking for help and not sure where to go for it. We have gotten calls from people who needed everything from legal guidance to teenage depression and more. The nonprofit sector is full of amazing groups, agencies, organizations and more that help in such a vast array. Examples: Recently we had a mom reach out because her teenage daughter’s boyfriend had drowned and her daughter was really having a hard time. We called Christianworks in the DFW area, a nonprofit that helps children with grief at absolutely no cost. Once we confirmed the details, I reached back out to the mom to provide all she needed. Another mom lost her infant child and we were able to provide E.L.F. a nonprofit support group for those who have experienced stillborn and/or infant death. A worried resident reached out to find out if she could withhold rent if there was mold in her home. We were able to provide her information on tenant’s rights in the state of Texas and what her options were when it comes to mold by giving her the state website. Another family was sleeping on the floor as they moved into an apartment but had no money for beds, we referred them to Bedstart.org to get free beds and furniture. For those looking for answers, it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to refer them to such places.
