Hug a Heat Foundation- Hats for Cancer Patients

Many of us have friends or family members who have battled cancer. Often, the personal and emotional side effects of chemotherapy are loss of hope, dignity and self-worth. Hug A Heart Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to empower, encourage and boost the self-esteem of cancer patients.

Cancer treatments are very traumatic and many patients encounter challenges in their physical appearance. Changes that may occur include:

Hair loss
Loss of eyebrows
Changes in skin color
Dryness
Dark circles under the eyes

We Serve Cancer Patients in our Local Communities and Surrounding States by:

Designing and sewing Hug A Heart Hats
Delivering complimentary hats to cancer patients in hospitals
We sew, package and deliver Mastectomy Heart Pillows to local hospital and infusions rooms
Providing complimentary hats, wigs, scarves and skin care products in our Hug A Heart Room
Sponsoring Hug A Heart workshops in our local communities

The National African-American Women’s Leadership Institute

NAAWLI was founded in 2000 by Dr. Gloria Scott, former president of Bennett College and Dr. Zulma Barrios, Vice President at the Gallup Leadership Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska. The leadership program was designed as a twelve-day program spanning over seven months that focuses on key leadership tenets that support professional women. Three four-day sessions are held in Dallas, Texas that expose participants to the crucial issues within the workforce through lectures, discussion groups, simulations and other leadership development activities.
