Support For Non-Profits!

Recently during an event surrounded by local residents and nonprofits, I asked several attendees about their local nonprofits in an effort to find out how much they knew about the gems in their own back yard. I asked them to name the Local Nonprofit that… Wait for it… Multiple Choice and 2 of the 4 answers were meant to be automatically eliminated to make it easier to guess the right answer!
For example, one of the questions were: Name the Nonprofit in McKinney that gives away free diapers, wipes, baby formula and women hygiene products?
Possible Answers:
1) You, Me and He
2) Baby Booties Diaper Bank
3) You’re making this up
4) Kids are something else
The correct answer was Baby Booties Diaper Bank, but shockingly not everyone knew the correct answer including other local nonprofits. This exercise confirmed that L.I.F.T. R&R’s mission was on the right track. It was evident that nonprofits in our local communities are still the best kept secret!
In 2019, Nonprofits were the #3 Largest Employers in the United States so how could an industry so massive be so unknown and or unrecognized. Its fundamentally because the nonprofit sector doesn’t have the marketing dollars to “Get the Word Out”. Sometimes they are financially helped through government or community grants or foundations, but those grants have restrictions as to what the funds can be used for. Word of Mouth tends to get out slower because a large number of those that are in need of the services are experiencing financial hardships and may be too embarrassed to tell someone they had to ask for help. These are some of the reasons nonprofits are not well known. It is L.I.F.T. R&R’s heart to help nonprofits collaborate and bring their expertise together to help the community so we share amongst them. Secondly we help share their missions and work by providing free digital marketing through our digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Linked In and Twitter! In addition, we list their nonprofits on our website so anyone can search for the services they need and the nonprofit that can assist them. The more we share the more others will hear. Ask yourself… What are the nonprofits in your area and what do you know about them? You may never need them but you certainly may come across someone who does OR you may decide to help support through volunteerism or financial contributions a nonprofit in your local area. Help spread the word! Getting involved not only changes their lives it changes yours too.
